چکیده

Purpose Diagnostically useful cardiac MR images are currently obtained using SSFP imaging sequences. Longer acquisition times and breath holding make this sequence unsuitable for use in certain patient populations (eg. children and sick adults). Unfortunately, RT-CMR images have lower spatial and temporal resolution than those obtained using SSFP sequences and are not currently used clinically.

Real-time cardiovascular magnetic resonance at 1.5 T using balanced SSFP and 40 ms resolution

BACKGROUND While cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) commonly employs ECG-synchronized cine acquisitions with balanced steady-state free precession (SSFP) contrast at 1.5 T, recent developments at 3 T demonstrate significant potential for T1-weighted real-time imaging at high spatiotemporal resolution using undersampled radial FLASH. The purpose of this work was to combine both ideas and to...

Cardiac functional analysis by free-breath real-time cine CMR with a spatiotemporal filtering method, TSENSE: comparison with breath-hold cine CMR.

The aim of this study was to assess the accuracy of cardiac functional values obtained from free-breathing real-time cine CMR with the temporal sensitivity encoding (TSENSE) technique by comparing them with values obtained from conventional cine CMR. For the real-time cine CMR, two protocols were employed, one with good temporal resolution and one with good spatial resolution. The functional va...

Real-time cardiovascular magnetic resonance at high temporal resolution: radial FLASH with nonlinear inverse reconstruction

BACKGROUND Functional assessments of the heart by dynamic cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) commonly rely on (i) electrocardiographic (ECG) gating yielding pseudo real-time cine representations, (ii) balanced gradient-echo sequences referred to as steady-state free precession (SSFP), and (iii) breath holding or respiratory gating. Problems may therefore be due to the need for a robust ECG...

Real time cardiac MRI and its clinical usefulness in arrhythmias and wall motion abnormalities

Methods Radial gradient-echo sequences with fully balanced SSFP gradients and at least 15-fold undersampling (real-time SSFP, RT) and conventional ECG-synchronized cine SSFP CMR (Cine) was used on a 1.5 T scanner system. Patients who had permanent arrhythmias (most often atrial fibrillation, AA; n = 8) or wall motion abnormalities (WMA; n = 3) were scanned in the standard views and compared to ...

Comparison of a novel free breathing SSFP sequence with standard breath held SSFP- a pilot study

Background Despite advances in magnetic resonance imaging hardware and software, the acquisition of optimal cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) images may be hampered by several factors. Most notably, scan length, the requirement for multiple breath holds and cardiac gating can all impact upon image quality. Real time cardiac imaging holds promise for reducing scan times via rapid acquisitions of ...
